AMA Legacy Scholarship

East Carolina UniversityThe scholarship effort of the AMA Alumni Foundation is the mechanism by which our descendants can know of the life and times at AMA.  It is something that we can establish as a living legacy to our ancestors, a legacy for us and for those who will live beyond our time.

James Madison UniversityThe AMA Alumni Foundation, Inc. has established scholarships to directly support post-secondary education for the direct descendants of former cadets of the Augusta Military Academy.  Scholarships vary in both number and amount from year to year.  In the past, the number of scholarships awarded in a single year has varied from one to eight.  The amount of the scholarships has varied from $1,000 to $3,000 each.  The number and amount of scholarships is determined each year by  the Foundation trustees. 

Radford UniversityBeginning in 2004, at least one of the AMA Legacy Scholarships will be awarded to a high school senior entering college for the first time.  Additionally, an individual may receive no more than two AMA Legacy Scholarships.

Who is eligible?

  • An AMA alumnus' child, grandchild, great-grandchild, great-great-grandchild, and so forth.
  • In other words, a direct descendant of an AMA alumnus
  • This includes natural, adopted and step-children, grandchildren, et. al.
  • The student must be under the age of 25 when the scholarship is awarded.  The monies are paid directly to the institution where the recipient is doing work past the high school level.

University of GeorgiaThe selection of the recipient of this scholarship will be made by an impartial distinguished education professional experienced in judging such awards.  Recipients will be notified before the annual Alumni Association Annual Reunion and be invited to receive their scholarships in person on at the awards banquet during the reunion in Staunton, Virginia.
